I have been using QR codes since 2016 — back when Paytm made them the default way to pay for everything in India. Scan, pay, done. Simple. I never thought much about how they worked or how they were made. They were just there, and they worked.

The College Project Problem

Our project required us to store data in a QR code — basically generate a custom QR code that contained specific project details. I thought this would be straightforward.
